#AskEoC Tips

We’ve learned from others who host these kinds of events regularly and have collected the following tips to help make the experience a good one.

Before the #AskEoC

  1. Inform your twitter followers that you will be participating in a Tweet Chat before the #AskEoC begins and that you’ll be tweeting a lot for the next hour. It is also helpful to invite them to attend.  Here’s an example: “For the next hour I’ll be chatting about (insert chat topic) on #AskEoC with others in the Business Community. Join us! (insert details – date/time here)”.
  2. If your tweets post to your Facebook, you may want to disable the application before the chat so that your tweets do not overwhelm your follower’s newsfeed. If you choose not to disable this application, please begin every response/comment with “@response” and it will not post to your Facebook.
  3. Learn the tools and Twitter Chat platform before #AskEoC starts.

During the #AskEoC

  1. Join our #AskEoC as soon as you feel comfortable. We are here to learn and grow from one another, so please say hi so we can welcome you to the discussion.
  2. Feel free to connect with our tweet chat moderator before or after the chat if you have questions. The tweet chat moderator will introduce themselves at the beginning of the chat and will be responsible for welcoming new chat members, keeping the discussion focused, and summarizing key points of the discussion.
  3. Don’t try to read every single tweet within the chat. Tweets can often flow by fast so just skim them as things go by and respond to those that peak your interest.
  4. Don’t worry at all about spelling or punctuation.
  5. Everything you write during the chat will go to ALL your Twitter followers (whether they participate in the chat or not) unless you send a direct message to someone.
  6. Stay on topic as best as you can. If there is another topic you would like to delve deeper into, please email Kathy at Kathy@CompanyofExperts.net with the topic of interest and we will work to add it to our #AskEoC schedule.
  7. It is NOT vital you answer all questions.
  8. Listen. Reading the tweets of others and considering them is ‘listening’.
  9. When typing a tweet, try to keep thoughts as complete as you can so followers outside the chat can learn from you.
  10. Re-tweeting the posts of another user in the chat is a common way to support statements from other tweeter and share them with your own network.
  11. It is acceptable to send a private tweet (direct message) to someone, but try to do it outside of the hashtag so that it doesn’t end up in the chat’s archive.
  12. The #AskEoC is not a tweet chat stream to market your own products or services.
  13. Remember to add “#AskEoC” to the end of each tweet unless you are using “TweetChat” for TweetChat will insert it into your tweet automatically.

After the #AskEoC

  1. Take time to review the conversation and questions after the #AskEoC has concluded. You can reap the greatest benefit of participation in tweet chats with the conversation you have between the scheduled #AskEoC.
  2. Feel free to share tweets from within the chat with your network (i.e. re-tweeting or commenting on the subject), but don’t forget to include #AskEoC so that your followers can follow along.

Each session is captured & posted on this website shortly after each session so you can come scan to review anytime

Referral Points Program FAQs

Referral Program FAQs

How does it work?

When the person you refer registers for a webinar, workshop, or training, you are eligible to receive “Referral Bonus Points“. The amount of bonus points earned is equal to 10% of the event price.  The bonus points you earn can be applied toward any event of your choice. For example, refer a friend who then registers for an AIFT at $1,100 – you will receive a credit for $110 dollars that can be applied to any event held by the Company of Experts or any of its affiliate companies.

How do I refer someone?

There are two ways that you can refer a friend:

  1. Send an email to Kathy or Natalie to inform them that you will be referring people to a training, webinar, or workshop. Be sure to include the full name(s) of the people you are referring in your email
  2. Upon checkout, registrants are allotted a space where they can enter in the name of the person that referred them. Remind the person you are referring to insert your name in the provided space so that you may receive your well-deserved referral points!

Who can I refer?

You may only refer individuals with whom you have a pre-existing personal or business relationship. You may not refer names obtained from group email addresses, email mailing lists, or yourself.

Is there a limit to the number of referral bonus points I can earn?

No, at this time there are no restrictions on the number of referral bonus points you can earn.

I referred a friend, but haven’t received my bonus points yet. Why?

There are a few reasons why you may not have received your referral bonus points.

  1. The individual you referred may have forgotten to enter your name during checkout.
  2. The payment status of the individual you referred may still be pending. Once registration is paid in full, you will receive an email containing the amount of referral points earned to date.
  3. The email you sent to inform the company of the individuals you were referring may have been marked as spam. Please resend the email. Remember to include the name(s) of the individuals you will be referring in your email. If you do not hear from us within two business days, please call our office at (702) 228-4699.

When may I use my bonus points?

You may use your bonus points at any time.

How do I redeem my bonus points?

If you found an event that you would like to attend and would like to redeem your bonus points, please call our office at (702) 228-4699. We will register you for the event of your choice over the phone. After you have registered for an event using your bonus points, you will receive a confirmation email confirming the event you are registered for as well as the current balance of your referral bonus points.

Can I apply my referral bonus points as partial payment towards an event?

Yes, you may apply your referral bonus points as partial payment towards an event of your choosing.  It is your responsibility to pay the remaining balance. Please remember that all fees are due upon registering. To redeem your referral bonus points, please call the office at (702) 228-4699.

Do my referral points expire?

No, at this time there are no expiration dates for your referral bonus points.

Can my referral bonus points be refunded, transferred, or exchanged?

No, your referral points are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another party. Please note that referral points are not exchangeable for cash under any circumstances.

How to Lead Under Fire

Author: Steve Tobak, cnet.com

stressed-while-at-workIf you’re not periodically under fire by your management and peers then your career’s probably not going anywhere. It’s sort of like “no pain no gain.” If you push the envelope and take risks, then you’re going to get mercilessly grilled from time to time. That’s just the way it works. And if you seriously want to get promoted and make something of yourself, you have to learn to handle it. No, I’m not talking about growing thick skin and becoming a human punching bag. I’m talking about learning to handle getting fired upon like a true leader. Everyone will walk out of the room thinking you’re the next Lou Gerstner or Jack Welch. Okay, maybe not, but they’ll definitely think more of you and will more readily accept your ideas, proposals, and most importantly, promotions.

How’d I learn this stuff? By spending much of my career selling innovative strategies to risk averse CEOs, CFOs, and management teams. Sure, I probably came across as whiny and defensive in the early days, but in time I learned the ropes. Here they are:

How to Lead Under Fire

1. Don’t get emotionally attached to your ideas. It’s good to be passionate about your ideas, but if you’re emotionally attached to them, it’ll come through when you’re getting grilled. And managers are incredibly distrustful of ideologues trying to shove things down their throats. It’s all about positioning. In your mind, you have to be willing to walk away. That little separation will give you the appearance of perspective and poise under fire.
2. Learn to embrace alternative views. The best way to respond to most objections is by first embracing them, then explaining why your plan is better or at least equivalent. Again, it’s a positioning game. But there’s a subtle but significant difference between, “My approach is better and here’s why,” and “That’s an interesting idea; here’s why I think this might be a better approach.”
3. Master the art of zinger retorts. When you’re getting grilled there will inevitably be some real zingers. Well, there’s only one way to beat a zinger and that’s with a zinger retort. How do you get good at zinger retorts? By getting good at thinking on your feet, which is really equal parts knowledge, experience, preparation, and of course, self confidence. Also, it’s essential to maintain a sense of humor under fire.
4. Know your stakeholders. Of course you need to know your material cold and expect the worst. Unfortunately, that’s not even close to good enough. You also have to know the stakeholders, aka your audience, and have a pretty good idea of their likely objections. A few one-on-one premeetings are a good idea. Then you’ll be ready to counter effortlessly.
5. Never, ever lose control of the meeting. It’s your meeting, or at least your time to present, so you’re in charge and you need to act like it. I don’t care if the CEO and CFO start going down a rat hole on some mindlessly trivial point. You have to be adept at all the usual techniques for keeping meetings on track, on topic, and on time. Come to think of it, that’s probably a topic of its own.
