Lane Glenn is Vice President of Academic Affairs at a suburban community college in New England. He has a diverse background in education, the performing arts, and organizational development that includes fifteen years of teaching and administration in higher education; writing for magazines, journals and encyclopedias; facilitating leadership workshops; and consulting and training with a special emphasis on strengths-based planning for business, industry, and the social sectors. Lane has been certified by Company of Experts.net as both an Appreciative Inquiry Facilitator and an Appreciative Inquiry Facilitator Training (AIFT©) Trainer.
Lane’s theatrical background and passion for storytelling are evident in his engaging, high-energy workshops, speaking engagements, and event facilitations. He has presented workshops and keynote addresses at a number of conferences and events including the National Council for Staff, Professional and Organizational Development; the Popular Culture/American Culture Association; and the International Chair Academy Conference, where he also served as Master of Ceremonies.
Lane has provided consulting and training services for clients in many fields, including K-12 public schools, higher education, community non-profit organizations, social service organizations, biotechnology manufacturing, public health, and national grass roots advocacy.
Lane has a particular interest in helping higher education, health, and public sector professionals at every level develop transformational leadership skills. He has facilitated workshops and weeklong academies in topics ranging from behavioral styles and team building, to conflict management, strategic planning, leading change, leadership through storytelling, academic master planning, multiple intelligences in the workplace and diversity initiatives.
A born optimist and an active member of Optimists International, Lane seeks solutions to organizational challenges through positive visioning and communications. His work now includes planning for change through Appreciative Inquiry, and training others to use AI for positive, values-based approaches to organizational planning and development.
Lane earned a Ph.D. in Theatre from Michigan State University. He also holds a Master of Arts in Speech/Theatre from Oklahoma State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English/Speech from Northeastern State University.
