Dona Boatright has been associated with California community colleges since 1971. She has worked in higher education as a faculty member and academic administrator, recently retiring after serving as Vice Chancellor for Educational Services for the California Community Colleges System Chancellor’s Office. She has held office in the Academic Senate at the college level and as the president of the California Chief Instructional Officers Association.
Her skill base includes curriculum development, learning communities, student learning outcomes, facilitating group processes, team development, strategic planning and coaching. Since leaving the Chancellor’s Office, she has been acting as a consultant on higher education issues, particularly with foundations such as the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the James Irvine Foundation and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
Dona has completed the coursework and exams for a doctorate in Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. She holds a master of arts degree and a bachelor of arts degree in Political Science, also from UC, Berkeley. Dona has attended professional development programs at the Harvard Institute for Educational Management, the League for Innovation Executive Leadership Institute, the AAWCJCA Asilomar Leadership Skills Seminar and the CAAACC Administrative Leadership Seminar.
